ABOUT THE THERAPIST
Shawna A. Frazer, MEd.,OTR/L
Shawna is the founder of OT Fundamentals and is a certified and licensed Pediatric Occupational Therapist. She currently has active licenses in both Massachusetts and Connecticut. She graduated from Springfield College's Occupational Therapy Department in 1997 with a Master of Education Degree. Since graduating, Shawna has been practicing in the area of pediatrics and has participated in numerous continuing education training programs. She continues to focus much of her learning on sensory processing in order to better understand and make positive changes with children who have developmental delays as well as those who are more formally diagnosed.
Employed by a Connecticut Public School System for over a decade,
Shawna has worked with a variety of children from preschool through high
school age. Her caseload involves primarily elementary students
with individual needs requiring a variety of interventions. She believes
that no two children are alike, and that success in her business does not
come from following a recipe, but by getting to know each child on a
motivational level. She enjoys the challenge of working with young children
especially those who are resistant to change. Working directly with
parents is often the missing piece when providing therapy within a public
school setting, and this is one reason why she decided to develop a home
based option
for parents;
OT Fundamentals.
On a personal note, in her free time Shawna enjoys spending time at home
with family and friends. She lives in Longmeadow, Massachusetts with her
husband, son and dog "Nellie".
